2002 Toyota Highlander
The 2002 Toyota Highlander is the new mid-size car-based sport utility vehicle
which is a bit larger that the truck-based 4Runner. Toyota Highlander offers a
comfortable ride for four people with its seats that can be folded down for cargo
carrying. Highlander comes in either full-time four-wheel drive or front-wheel
drive. Engines are available at a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine 155 horsepower
as standard, and an optional 3.0-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine with 220 horsepower
at 5,800 rpm and torque of 222 lb.-ft at 440 rpm, both offering automatic transmissions.

The shifter for the four-speed automatic transmission is positioned more as a
part of the dash than on a central console, opening the space between the front
seats, and lending an open air for the cockpit. Toyota Highlander has a smart
and trim look of both RAV4 and 4Runner. Highlander is more spacious than the upscale
Lexus RX 300, four inches wider than truck-based 4Runner. It has offers an easy
entry for both cargo and people, much easier than in truck-based sport utility
vehicles through its more car-like step-in and lift-into into the Highlander.
Even wearers of tight will have an easy entry. The seats are adjustable in order
to fit various sizes of drivers and passengers. The Highlander has wood and chrome
touch for the Limited edition. Highlanders with V6 engine come with aluminum interior
accents. The interior is equipped with dome, door courtesy, glove box and cargo
area lighting. It also has map pockets, visor mirrors, and front and rear auxiliary
power outlets. It features a sloping hood that creates ease in seeing the front
view and so as at every other angles. 2002 Highlander is squared-off styled instead
of slanted roof pillars on an RX 300.
Driving a Highlander is like driving a sedan with the way it steers, and go smoothly
on various surfaces. An extra push on the pedal maybe needed when at midrange
speeds, although it has a strong acceleration. It is quieter than truck-based
SUVs when lit comes to both engine and road noises.
