2005 Toyota Highlander
The 2005 Toyota Highlander is a hybrid sport utility vehicle offering the Hybrid
Synergy Drive System specially designed for midsize SUV duty. It has a larger-capacity
battery that could provide nearly twice the power of the Prius battery. This model
is designed with the new high-speed electric motor operating at a double speed,
producing more the twice the power of that of Prius. The Hybrid SUV gets a rating
of SULEV or Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle, one of the most strict emissions
standards The acceleration of zero to 60 mph is expected to be quicker through
a continuous variable transmission, than the Highlander powered by regular gasoline,
achieving the feat in less than eight seconds driving at either the front or four
wheels.
Highlander also has new Vehicle Dynamic Management system for stability enhancement
and traction control. It features the standard third-row seat tucked into the
cargo bay and split folding second row seat, opening the 80.6 cubic feet space
for cargo. Highlander is offering a fuel economy rating of 27.6 miles a gallon,
reaching more than 600 miles in a single tank. Toyota Highlander is equipped with
the combination of gasoline and electric power train. It has a 3.3-liter V6 engine
that makes a three times horsepower or 270 hp generated by petroleum.
The electric motor is powered by an engine augmented by a large battery that
delivers twice the juice that makes the operation to double speed, reaching an
output of more than two times the number of supplemental ponies. The Toyota Highlander
offers standard equipment for stability control system and tire pressure monitoring
system. It also has front seat-mounted side airbags and an optional side curtain
airbags for the second and third rows. A navigation system and all the optional
features in a regular Highlander are also featured in the Highlander Hybrid.
The front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive with intelligence 4WD-i is standard
in the Highlander, however the 4WD-i get separate rear electric motors. The 2005
model has aluminum alloy wheels with full-size spare tire, color-keyed front and
rear mudguards, rear privacy glass, and quarter and tailgate windows. It has an
available keyless entry system and tonneau cover. Highlander is equipped with
anti-theft system alarm pre-wire.
